Teachers Say The Nicest Things.....

Suzanne Jensen

My class enjoyed a "wide range" of projects this year! As a teacher, I appreciate the variety of activities from seasonal (1 day projects) to the literature based projects (Curious George). Being a first grade teacher, I tend to look for projects that I can incorporate into my language arts curriculum and (of course) expose my students to the "world of technology." All of your projects have enabled me to do that! (Mahalo!)

Thank you , for helping me get in touch with this school. My class in North dakota has been writing back and forth with a kindergarten class we adopted because of the Dear Friend project. We have sent supplies for both the students and teachers at Christmas. For Valentines Day, my class donated 75 books to help rebuild Mrs. Mullins Kindergarten class library. I was even able to talk to Mrs. Mullins on the phone. Her class has even taken the time to put together a learning box for my class. They have sent us materials to learn about Mardi Gras. Thank you for making this process happen . It has been a great learning experience on both ends. :)

Thank you for providing the educational community with such a wonderful project. Eight of our elementary schools participated in this project with a total of 82 teachers. It was interesting to observe the various teaching methods and styles that were used by our teachers to arrive at the project results. Our students had a great time interpreting the data and eating the FroolLoops!
Thank you once again for your hard work. It was greatly appreciated

This was a super project! We actually used it as our Science Fair entry, and placed in our category! My class had a great time doing the project and collecting all the data! It really helped them with predictions, graph making concepts and their budding technology skills. We'll definitely be participating in the next project of Jennifer's!

Well, Jennifer, you've done it again!!! We're not quite finished with "Froot Loops to the Max," but each time we do the next step, and I say, "It's time to work on our Froot Loops Project," the kids all yell, "Yay!!!!" - we're sorting, graphing, adding, checking with calculators, comparing, predicting - all with such enthusiasm! Kids even took it upon themselves during INDOOR RECESS (we've had 15 days of below 10 degrees temperatures in MA!!) to perform math calculations with Froot Loops data that weren't even asked of them - now THAT is taking it to the MAX!!! Thank you!!!

The students were thrilled with the project. I had them predict the height and number of cookies in the stack. They found that they came very close to their predictions. At first, I just had one person measuring a stack at a time, but as we went along, I had two measure at a time to confirm their measurements. It was a very enjoyable activty and easy to organize. Thank you so much for the idea.

The class LOVED this project! It was interesting to see some of the strategies being used. Some groups were dividing up the amount of cookies they were given into smaller groups, stacking them, and then putting them together for a tall stack, other groups just went one cookie at a time. It is definitely an activity I would do again next year. I also had each group agree on an estimate of how many cookies they thought they might be able to stack before beginning the project.

Our class had a great time with the project. Each group had their special stacking techniques by the third try. We discussed our results as a class and even tried stacking the cookies one more time just for fun with several members from each group. The comments were great! I took a picture of one group and the student stacking said, "Hey, you broke my concentration!" It was great to see everyone working together trying stack the cookies. By the third try, the students would really give each cookie the once over before using it as part of the stack. We had a wonderful time with the stacking part of the project and plan on having one Oreo Cookie project for the next several weeks.
