Welcome to the Pumpkin Seed Counting Project!!

Registration for this project is now closed. However, you are welcome to utlize the worksheets & activities. Plus, the final results page will be available for you to download to use within your classroom.

This project will involve
PreK - 3rd grade classes all around the world.

The main objective of this project will be to reinforce both math and estimation skills.

You and your class will choose ONE PUMPKIN
The weight must be between
1 pound and 5 lbs
or
.45 grams to 2.26 kilograms.

Your class will create one CLASS ESTIMATE (on how many pumpkin seeds will be inside the pumpkin.) This number needs to be recorded for future use.

You will cut open the pumpkin and your class will count ALL the seeds which are in that pumpkin. This number will need to be recorded for future use.

Your class will compare their estimate to the final count and determine the difference.

The class will submit the Class Estimate and the Exact Count to the data collection board.

Extra activities will be provided for teacher use.

If your teacher wishes, your class can participate in a "PUMPKIN FASHION SHOW" where your class can submit ONE STUDENT CREATED (drawn or carved) pumpkin to be on display.
