Welcome to the Pumpkin Seed Counting Project 2008

This project is a
3 day project from October 29 - 31, 2008

This project is open to PreK - 3rd
grade students worldwide!

The main objective of this project is to
reinforce both math and estimation skills.

Classrooms will chose ONE PUMPKIN that
weighs between 1 pound and 5 pounds.
or
.45 grams to 2.26 kilograms.

Each class will create one CLASS ESTIMATE
(on how many pumpkin seeds would be inside the pumpkin.)
This number will be recorded for future use.

They cut open the pumpkin
and counted ALL the seeds which are in
that pumpkin. This number was recorded for future use.

Classrooms will also add to our
Project Memory Voice Thread!

This project will incoporated the books,
"The Biggest Pumpkin Ever" by Steven Kroll
and
How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin by Margaret McNamara

If the teacher wishes, the class can able participate in
a "PUMPKIN FASHION SHOW" where the classroom
can submit STUDENT CREATED (drawn or carved)
pumpkins and upload them to an online
Photo Album (such as bubbleshare.com) & send the link
to Jen to post on this website!
