Welcome to the Pumpkin Seed Counting Project
hosted by Jennifer Wagner at Jenuintech.com Projects.com!!

This project is now over.
Join us next year on 10/31!!

This project involved
PreK - 3rd grade classes from the U.S.A. & Canada

The main objective of this project was to
reinforce both math and estimation skills.

Classrooms chose ONE PUMPKIN that
weighed between 1 pound and 5 lbs
or
.45 grams to 2.26 kilograms.

Each class created one CLASS ESTIMATE
(on how many pumpkin seeds would be inside the pumpkin.)
This number was recorded for future use.

They cut open the pumpkin
and counted ALL the seeds which wer in
that pumpkin. This number was recorded for future use.

Each class compared their estimate
to the final count and determined the difference.

The class submitted the
Exact Count to the data collection board.

Extra activities were provided for teacher use.

This project also incoporated the books,
"The Biggest Pumpkin Ever" by Steven Kroll
and
How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin by Margaret McNamara
