Welcome to The Incredible Journey
Travel Buddy Project!

This project is now full and
will be taking no more registrations.

Each participating school will have the box for 3 weeks.
There are 5 days of activities that you are welcome to fill into any time during the 3 weeks.

There is a $5 charge to join this project.

Your students will take an incredible journey around your classroom, your school, your city, your state, and then end back up at their desk. The project's main objective is to create an online environment to share information with all participants of this project. Teachers are also invited to read from the book, The Incredible Journey, and/or show their student's the movie, Homeward Bound. Your students are also invited to take the beanies home during this project and journal their experiences.

Each day will consist of an objective, a task, a written journal question & also a wiki question asked by our three beanie babies.

You will also have worksheets and links to websites to help you complete each day's goals. However, feel free to implement your own ideas or lesson plans as well.

Activity One:
Getting to Know Your Classroom
Today's Objective:
Students will learn more about their classroom and take time to notice things perhaps they have never seen.

Task of the Day:
Students will create either a written description or drawing of one area of their classroom. (such as the bulletin board, the book area, the teacher's desk)

Written Journal Question of the Day:
What is special about your classroom? What does your teacher do to help make it a great place to learn? Does your classroom have jobs for students and what are they (such as lineleader, phone monitor, etc?)

Beanie Question:
What is the name of your school? Where is it located? What is your teacher's name and how long have she/he taught? What makes your teacher special?

Activity Two:
Getting To Know Your School
Today's Objective:
Students will learn more about the history of their school.

Task of the Day:
Your class will need to find out more about the history of your school This might include having someone from the district (or perhaps a teacher who has been there quite a while) share.

Written Journal Question of the Day:
Why was your school given the name it was given?

Beanie Question:
How many classrooms are at your school? What is the name of your principal?? Who has taught for the longest time at your school?

Today's Objective:
Students will become more acquainted with their city, community leaders, and the historical facts of their city.

Task of the Day:
Students will fill out the worksheet that tells more about their city.

Journal Question of the Day:
What is the nearest MAJOR city? What is your nearest famous landmark??

Beanie Question:
What makes your city special? Who is your mayor? Who is your Chief of Police?? Do you have any famous people living in your city or have lived in your city?

Task of the Day:
Students will create a collage or drawing of their state which will represent at least 4 aspects of their state. (such as flag, bird, flower, etc) Teachers will need to download a state map at http://www.50states.com/maps/ for student use.

Journal Question of the Day:
What is your state known for? (please include items such as tourist attractions, historical facts, food, famous people)

Beanie Blog Question:
What do you enjoy most about living in your state? Why should people move to your state?

Task of the Day:
Students will either a written description or a visual representation of their desk.

Journal Question of the Day:
What kind of desk do you have? Is it your own or do you have to share? What makes your desk special?

Beanie Blog Question:
How many desks do you have in your room? If you could design the perfect student desk, what would it be like? If you could choose 3 words to describe your desk, what would they be??
